How to Earn Points & Win Prizes Using Beanstack

https://jerseyvillelibrary.beanstack.org/reader365

We have quite a few new members to Teen Summer Reading Club this year, and we are stoked! If you weren't with us last year, using Beanstack is going to be new to you. By the way, if you HAVEN'T made your Beanstack account yet, sign up NOW! This is the most important step to this year's Teen Summer Activities. But don't worry- it's easy to use, and super fun. And it's not JUST for reading, there are also fun activities and challenges that we've set up for you to do both at home, online, around Jerseyville, or in the Library.

If you WERE with us last summer and already know how to use Beanstack, you're in good shape. It will be structured the same this year, but we have a couple of changes you need to remember:

Look kiddos, we know that summer is full of possibilities. Some of you LOVE to read at home, and some of you prefer doing crafts and activities with us at the Library.
And we love both of those things!

But this is the Summer Reading & Activities Club after all, so to be eligible to win our awesome Summer Prizes, you have to earn this completion badge on Beanstack:

To earn this badge, here are the things you
MUST ACCOMPLISH:

Now don't freak out! If you read at least 15 Minutes a day, by August 2nd you will have read more than 10 hours! We believe in you! You can do it!

Alright, so now you know what you have to do to be able to win prizes.
Now we'll break down exactly how to earn points/tickets to put towards those prizes. Ready? Here We Go...

Throughout the summer you will be able to earn points on Beanstack by reading, completing activities, coming to events, and more!
Each point that you earn goes towards winning PRIZES at the end of the summer- which will be handed out at our Prize Party on August 4th. (You do not have to be at the party to earn prizes)
Every 5 POINTS that you earn gets you 1 Ticket.
And just like you did in Kid's Summer Reading Club, you get to decide how many tickets go in for certain prizes. So you want to try to earn as many as you can for more chances to win! Don't worry, everyone will earn a prize. An official Prize List will be posted here on our Blog soon, so keep an eye out!

Alright, so here's the breakdown of what you can do this summer to earn points:

The more of these you do, the more points you'll earn! You have until August 1st to build up and earn as many points as you can, then find out at the Prize Party what prizes you've won!

Are you confused?!? No worries - if you have any questions you can always ask us! Our contact info is here, and you can message us any time - we will make sure to get back to you asap.
All in all kids, we want you to have fun this summer! So start reading, play around on Beanstack, and we will see you at our first Gaming Club Day on June 18th!

Foam Board World Challenge

Foam Board World Challenge
All-Summer-Long Challenge! Last year we made marble mazes, and we were a-MAZE-d at how well you all did making your creations. So this year, we are doing a similar challenge 😉

Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to create a mini-world diorama on a piece of foam board (that we will provide for you) that goes with our 6 Summer Reading Club Themes. The themes are:

-Under The Sea (Something underwater, lakes & rivers count! Or mermaid lands, those count too.)
-To The Stars (Space/Space-themed places such as Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.)
-Beyond Your Imagination (FICTIONAL worlds, such as harry potter, lord of the rings, hundred acre wood, etc. OR create and design your own world that doesn't even exist yet!)
-Across the USA (a State or American Landmark)
-Around the World (a Country, or Foreign City/ Landmark)
-Back In Time (any place from the past!)

THE RULES:
  • Your world must fit on the one foam board we provide - ask at the desk to pick one up or ask Adam, Christie, or Brandi at one of our Events.
  • Display cannot be taller than 3 feet, we will measure if we need to!
  • Diorama CAN be 3-D, or completely drawn on the board like a map.
  • You may use any materials necessary to construct your World. Just make sure it is portable and not too heavy because you must bring it to the Library for judging!
  • Worlds constructed by families for the Kid's SRC Foam Board challenge CANNOT be used again for this challenge. You must make your own! 😊**

The members of our Library staff will be voting for our favorite! Winner will receive 20 TICKETS (which equals 100 Beanstack Points)!! At the end of the night you are free to take your creation home, OR we will be displaying them here at the Library through the month of August!
**If you are part of a large family, please note that the Kid's Summer Reading Program is ALSO doing a challenge similar to this one! The rules for their contest is 1-foam board per family. If you come in to the Library, tell us that you are picking up your board for the TEEN challenge!

Complete your creation by Wednesday, August 1st! Then come to the Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to check out your fellow teen member's creations, and see if your world wins the Grand Prize! (If there is enough participation, we will be giving a large amount of points to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners! Each participant will earn a few Beanstack Points for bringing in their boards)
